Monkey in the Middle – A Fun Action Circle Activity – By The Learning Station

Monkey in the Middle, is a popular children’s song and activity where children take turns being the lead monkey initiating the next dance move.  Ideal for toddler, preschool and kindergarten age children.  This action and learning song is part of The Learning Station’s program that promotes, Healthy Music for a Child’s Heart, Body and Mind!

The children form a circle and one child (the monkey) goes into the middle and makes up a dance or movement for everyone else to imitate, then takes a bow and moves to the outside. All the children get a chance to be the monkey separately. At the end of the song all the children step in the middle to do all the new movements initiated by all the monkeys.

Lyrics:  Monkey see, monkey do. Do you want to follow monkey too? There’s a monkey in the middle, just because you got to do what that little monkey does. Follow monkey, follow monkey, follow monkey, follow monkey.
