I thought you might enjoy my story about the Tony Chestnut Song. I heard your presentation at NAEYC and I bought the CD. I work with teachers and parents in Head Start not directly with children. Every month I do a presentation at our parent policy council about literacy. In Dec. as part of my presentation I taught the parents and other adults the Tony Chestnut Song. It was hysterical but a ton of fun. Later that month I was at a parent meeting to do a presentation and a parent asked if I was planning to do the Tony Chestnut song. I wasn't and I didn't have the CD but needless to say we did the song anyway. I love to see parents having fun. Thanks so much.

Clowning Around with the Learning Station

I am a professional clown and I love to use The Learning Station's music at birthday parties, libraries, and daycares. I have the "Get Funky" and "Tony Chestnut" CDs and people young and old really enjoy them. One day as I was going into one of the libraries where I sometimes do story telling a little girl came up to me and asked me if we were going to do the "Funky Monkey". LOL! The real title is "Get Funky". That is one of my favorite songs and seems to be a hit with everyone.

We have a clown school in Birmingham, AL, the Magic City Clown School and Tony Chestnut is a "Classic Must Do" for graduation. Every student learns the song and we have the audience stand up and do it with us.

Here is a picture of me (with the red hair), Gloie the Clown, with my friend Fanci who is also an instructor at the Magic! City Clown School. Take care and keep on making those CDs and DVDs. They are a blessing!

"Keep bringing smiles to children and adults of all ages"

I just wanted to let you know how thankful we were to have you at our Celebrating Children Conference. Your performances and workshops were awesome and we received so many compliments on our wonderful choice of presenters. You both are truly inspirational to anyone that works with or cares for children. I had a wonderful time getting to know you both and I can not thank you enough for the CDs and the video you gave me for my daughter, she loves them! I hope to have you back in the future and will make sure to spread the word if anyone is looking for a keynote presenter for their conference. Good luck in all that you do and continue to keep bringing smiles to children and adults of all ages. Thank you again :-)

Children's Librarian
WIGGIN MEMORIAL LIBRARY Stratham, New Hampshire

The Learning Station Brings Storytimes to Life!

Hi. My name is Jan Streelman, and I'm a Children's Librarian at Wiggin Memorial Library in Stratham, New Hampshire. I was hired almost seven years ago because the library was looking for someone with a music background to take over the Storytime programming and give the children more exposure to music during Storytimes as well as introducing them to all kinds of children's books. Since I had just moved from Texas, where I was a preschool music teacher, it was a perfect fit! The Learning Station was also a fantastic fit for introducing movement and "dewiggling" activities as well as singing and moving to songs that went along with our particular Storytime theme that day. One of our favorites is "Singin' in the Rain" from the "Rock N' Roll Songs that Teach" CD. I also used this song in a presentation I gave last November on using music in Storytimes for a gathering of children's librarians at our Fall CHILIS Conference. I made everyone stand up and participate, and they absolutely loved it and were anxious to use it for their own programs! I always have a song at the very start of Storytime for getting our wiggles out (your music is perfect for "dewiggling"!) and follow each story with a musical activity, such as movement or marching with rhythm instruments (again, thank you Learning Station!).

In addition to presenting five Toddler and Preschooler Storytimes each week, I also offer a weekly Baby Lapsit program for parents/caregivers and babies whose ages range from birth to the toddling stage. "All-Time Children's Favorites" is perfect for this group, where parents are anxious to relearn some of their old favorites to share with their babies.

As a librarian, I was particularly thrilled with "Literacy in Motion" and am constantly using it in my programs as well as recommending it to local preschool and Head Start teachers, who are always looking for music to use in their classrooms. We used several of the songs in one Storytime session the week the Caldecott Medal winners (an award given to illustrators of American picture books for children) were announced, following the reading of a story by a past award-winner with the corresponding song from the CD. They really loved "Wild Things" ("Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak) and "Head to Toe Dance" ("From Head to Toe" by Eric Carle). Our next Storytime will feature "Green Eggs and Ham" from this CD as well as the book in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd. There is no end to the ways I can incorporate The Learning Station's phenomenal fun and educational music into the total Storytime experience! My Storytime patrons and I are eternally grateful to you for enhancing our programs and encouraging early literacy as well.

OUTSTANDING!

I just want to say what an OUTSTANDING performance that was received in Eufaula, Alabama, during the Preschool Literacy Day.  This is my third year attending, and I feel like a kid myself every time!  I have heard nothing but positive things from other teachers and parents… and of course the children!  Thank you very much for a very fun, educational and entertaining morning!  I sincerely hope that you will return again next year!  Thanks again!

Lasting Memories

Hello.  My name is Sara.  I live in Manchester, CT.  I am 15 (almost 16) and I have many memories of dancing along with you to your All Aboard video, since I was real young.  I also have seen you “in concert” at a near-by church with a few other families when I was about 5.  I just wanted to write you and tell you that I enjoy thinking about fun times I've had with my friends dancing to your songs.  Thanks a bunch!  You are all my idols.

MUCH LOVE

Samantha's Story

"I am the mother of a 3 year old special needs child. My daughter, Samantha, is mildly autistic and still does not speak. About a year ago, I tried to stimulate her with videos. I tried everything from Barney to Winnie the Pooh, nothing worked. I had seen you live at the daycare my son went to years ago (Red Balloon Day Care in Stafford Springs, CT) and thought I would give your videos a try. "

"I have to tell you that your videos are the only ones that Samantha will watch. In the year that she has been watching them, she has begun to mimic the movements and even responds to the music. While she still does not talk, she is able to walk up to the video cabinet and point to the video she wants to see...she particular loves your "Movin and Groovin" video. She will sit and watch it for hours."

"Anyway, I wanted to thank you all for dedicating so much time to children. You help them in more ways than you know."

Lisa recently updated us on Samantha

"It has been quite some time since I have updated you on Samantha, and thought it would be nice to let you all know how she is doing."

"Samantha is now 5 years old and has entered Kindergarten. She has come a long way since out last communication; I would love to be able to tell you that she is now a chatter-box, but she is not. Sami still does not talk, although we are able to communicate with her through sign language and a picture board. We have been unsuccessful in trying to nail down a diagnosis for her, but we are still trying."

"She still absolutely loves all of your videos, and it is because of those videos that she can now skip and jump this was a long and arduous journey for her. She would become more and more frustrated at pre-school because she could not skip and jump with other kids. I believe in my heart that by watching your videos every day she finally learned these skills  and I can't thank you all enough for that."

"Again, I want to thank you for all that you do with children. I am blessed with a beautiful special needs child whom you have been able to reach through your videos."

Puppets At Your Service!

We ordered 4 of your CD's and you graciously gave us permission to use them during our puppet performances. The kids have been LOVING it! The "GET FUNKY" album was a big surprise to me, and there was more material on there than I could have imagined. WOW!

What we've done is choreographed many of the songs with a puppet who is a full costume, named Elmer (picture attached). This picture I'm attaching is of a little Deaf boy doing "The Bear Hunt" with us. He was having a ball, as were the other children! Elmer uses fluent sign language for Deaf audiences (and doesn't use it for hearing audiences), so these Deaf youngsters were able to access the beat of your music (trust me, it was LOUD, heh heh) and enjoy the lyrics through the air through sign. As you can see, he was very actively hunting for bears with me and enjoying every minute!

I do have many more pictures, but this one really captured the essence of joy that your music is bringing to our young audiences. Thank you so much for allowing us to use this incredible children's music with our audiences. Your music is smart and energetic, and the adults enjoy its energy as well. It definitely is not your typical children's music series...which can be tough for an adult to digest. Yours is REALLY fun and the rhythms are wonderful. Don's voice is made for this. We love that he uses that incredible voice for such wonderful music.

Many thanks
